Participating creatives of various ages, genders, identities, practices, and experience levels will receive access to over 3,650 square feet of accessible space at Toronto Media Arts Centre, along with technical and digital resources (film and video equipment, VR studios, film archives, media work stations, open lab studios, equipment libraries, coworking and social areas) to build projects of an electronic medium/mixed media of their choosing. Integrative options include live coding, interactive games, instruments and sound installations, VR, and more.
Our project lead and mentor roster features an incredible group of artists, educators, developers, and organizers from a range of Canadian art and tech spaces/communities. Project leads are contributing platforms (partially-created works designed to be open to further collaboration), tools (tech/media stations), and expertise to inform and assist the creation process over the course of the three-day jam.
Projects created over the course of the jam will be shown in a public exhibition, presented at Toronto Media Arts Centre approximately four weeks following (to allow time for project refinement), with a specially-curated stream being included in a rave (location TBA) in the same week.
Most fall jam participants are active digital/electronic artists or tech professionals, but we are expecting a range of collaborators. Part of the excitement of the jam is about not knowing who you will be working with until the event kicks off.
Participant registration is open to any member of art or tech communities interested in creating, learning, and sharing in collaborative, experimental spaces. We are committed to maintaining an alternative, inclusive environment, and are welcoming of people of all genders, abilities, and ethnic, cultural, and sexual identities.
In the heart of Toronto’s Art and Design District, TMAC is creating a diverse and collaborative environment where anyone can engage meaningfully with art and technology. TMAC integrates creation, production, presentation, education, conservation and dissemination practices and with a focus on community building and inclusivity.
With year-round arts and cultural programming, open lab studios, equipment libraries, coworking and social areas, we provide the tools, space and freedom to play with art, media and new technologies -- including film, videogames, audio, video, robotics, electronics and more.
